Frequently Asked Questions

I prepare my own tax returns, why should I use a CPA?

It's true, you can prepare and file your own return, and many people do. But we find that many self-prepared returns don't take all the available deductions. At Shea CPA, we'll make sure to take full advantage of all the available tax credits and deductions you're entitled to. We'll give your tax returns a thorough, comprehensive review. We're in the business of seeing to it that you keep more of what you earn.

What is an IRS Offer in Compromise?

An Offer in Compromise is an Internal Revenue Service program for those owing the IRS over $7,000. The program allows the previously delinquent taxpayer to offer the IRS a smaller amount than the amount of taxes actually owed. Once you retain our services, we will represent you throughout the entire process. Upon acceptance of your OIC, and payment of the amount accepted by the IRS, your past due tax liability will be eliminated.

Do you offer free consultations?

Yes, we offer a free personalized financial and tax evaluation with recommendations for tax saving strategies. We also offer a free examination of any tax returns from previous years to determine if you may have paid too much in the past and are entitled to a refund.

We know choosing a CPA is an important decision. We try to make that decision as easy as possible.

Do you prepare out of state tax returns?

Yes. We prepare out of state tax returns for both individuals and businesses. Though our office is located in Seattle, Washington, we have many clients whose businesses and residences are in other states.
